Item Check Out Information
How long can I keep items owned by the Edwardsville Public Library?
Books- three weeks with 2 renewals unless there is a hold on the item.
DVDs- one week for DVDs under five hours running time, three weeks for over 5 hour multipart DVDs.
Magazines- three weeks with 2 renewals.
Reference materials- do not circulate.
PLEASE NOTE: Interlibrary loan due dates may vary due to each owning library's policy.
How much are overdue fines and fees for lost or damaged items for Edwardsville cardholders?
Fines- are $.10 per day.
Lost/Damaged materials- item cost + $1.00 processing fee.
Missing audio CD- $12.00
PLEASE NOTE: Loan periods and fees may vary if patron has library card from another library.
How do I borrow an item that is not in the catalog?
Items that are not in the catalog may be requested by patrons with an Edwardsville library card through the Reference Department. You can also enter your request through the Worldcat database found on the Library’s website. This process usually take 10 to 14 days.

Can I access my account and renew books from home?
You may renew items by calling the Library at 618-692-7556 or by accessing your account from home by using the online catalog HERE. To login you will need your library card number and PIN (initially, the last 4 digits of your phone number on account). This allows you to request items in the catalog and renew items that qualify. Once logged in you may customize your login and PIN if you'd prefer -- call and ask us how, we are happy to help.
What is a PIN?
A PIN is your 4 digit personal identification number (initially, the last 4 digits of your phone number on account) used to verify your Library card number for online access. If you don't have a PIN or are having trouble logging in, call the Library at 618-692-7556.
Computers at the Library
Can I use a computer and get on the Internet at the Library?
The Library has two computer labs for public use, one for adults and one for youth. You do not need a Library card to use a computer. Sign up stations are located at both circulation desks.
There is a 2 hour limit per day per person for computer use. Printing is available for $.10 per B&W page, $.25 for color.
There are also laptop computers you can check out for in-house use at the Library. A photo ID is required to use these laptops. Printing is not available from laptops.
Does the Library have WiFi?
Yes, you can access the Internet through our in-house WiFi service.

Does the Library have a calendar of events?
Yes. All events can be accessed through our calendar on the webpage.
When are storytimes?
Regular storytimes and programs are listed on the Newsletter and daily events are on the calendar.
Donations and Memorials
Does the Library accept used book donations?
Yes. Please be aware that donated items must meet the same criteria as purchased items. Items not included in our collection may be placed in the Carnegie’s Books sale. At this time we cannot accept magazines or older textbooks.
Does the Library take donations for memorials or dedications?
Requests for book memorials are honored. A book plate is placed in the front of every dedicated item. For more information, or to donate a book for a memorial or dedication, please contact the library.
